I didn’t think that I would get all sad writing this, but it’s hard not to, a year is a long time.

Because I have taken a photo every day for the entire year of 2010 (without cheating once, I might add)… I must have learned something.

This is a short list of stuff I made note of:

• No family, no individual (especially me), has their shit together… or ever will
• Practice does not make perfect
• I have people all around me that I love, and they in turn love me back
• Moments spent with family are fleeting, acknowledge them and be thankful
• Regrets don’t pay the bills (thanks, Ted)

I would say that biggest drawback to forcing yourself to shoot every day is that you never really have enough time. Most of the photos posted to this blog never felt finished, I was always rushed.

As I look back at my photos, it’s easy to critique my work and say “I should have done this” or “I should have done that”. I made a promise to myself that I would leave all of the photos posted as is. It’s funny that I already look at photos taken last January and notice things I would have done differently. I guess that this is a good thing, it means that I’m heading in the right direction.

I’m planning on starting another project in the new year, and even though it won’t be a Project 365, it surely will be photography based. To keep up to date with what I’m doing, please check out my Facebook page. You can also find me on Twitter, or come visit me on my Website.

Lastly, I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your comments, your support, and most importantly, your LOVE! I would have quit this project in the first two months if I didn’t have the people around me that I do. It made all the difference and I want to give credit where it is most deserved. So, thanks again!

One more thing. I challenge each and everyone reading this to go get off your butt and do something worthwhile next year. Whether it’s taking up a new hobby, learning a new language, joining a church, writing a book, whatever. Seriously, stop watching all the TV and go do something that is important to you, and heck, maybe even pass it on to your kids. And, if you get stuck in a rut, or need some moral support (or teasing), I’d be more than happy to help out.

I am not a fan of mornings. And, I imagine that this is probably the understatement of the year. For the 364 photos I have taken so far, I bet that 99% of them were taken after 12:00pm. Because change is good, and because today was so beautiful, I headed out earlier than usual and took a few photos in a field close by our house. It was brisk and my feet froze instantly, but I didn’t mind… it felt good to be productive. I plan on using this time of day a lot more in the new year.

I cannot believe that tomorrow is my last day. I have no idea what I’m going to do with myself.

This boy, the eldest, brings his thoughtfulness.

The last three photos were taken with pretty much the same settings. Nikon D2xs with 17-55mm f/2.8 :: 1/200 or so @ f/2.8 :: ISO 100 :: edited in Lightroom 3. For each shot, I placed my subject on their backs on the ground, and then shot from above. I used all ambient light and then filled in with a small softbox.

FYI: I’ve added a “More Info” tab on the top far left side of this website. In there you can find my latest tweets and the most recent comments. I plan on adding a few more goodies too.

We had a really enjoyable Christmas day spent in our cozy home in Langley. The kids got these wonderful feet pajamas from Santa in their stockings… even Owen liked his. And tonight, we cooked our first ever Christmas turkey with all the fixings.

Today was a good day. Merry Christmas!

This is my dear friend, Ted. And yes, he is indeed canon balling into a dumpster. Ted and I were best friends in high school but shortly after started heading our separate ways. Now, with similar family values and a love for the arts, we have slowly but surely grown close again.
