Untitled :: North Vancouver, BC :: Nightscape :: Day 338

black and white photo of vancouver skyline

My heart wasn’t in my photography today, I imagine it shows. We spent most of the day at the hospital and unfortunately my Dad hasn’t shown any real signs of improvement. I want to say thank you again to all of my friends, family and strangers that have shown their concern and support, it has...

Bypass :: Langley, BC :: Nightscape :: Day 242

bokeh night scene

The days have already started getting shorter and the air has been so much chillier. It’s a shame that summer appears to be coming to an end, at least here in Langley. Shorter days mean that I’ll be spending more time shooting at night. I think this photo works well as CD art work, but...

Erase Rewind :: Cloverdale, BC :: Nightscape :: Day 222

night photo of transmission lines

I was out late in Cloverdale after a failed attempt at photographing some hot air balloons in Langley. Wandering under transmission lines in the dark is just plain creepy, I totally got spooked. When I took this shot my camera and tripod vibrated like crazy from the electricity in the air. Pretty cool.

Heron :: South Surrey :: Nightscape :: Day 216

black and white photo of heron in marina

My friend Hayshaker is always complaining about me not taking enough photos of birds. Now I know that this is not a duck or goose, or one of the other waterfowl that he constantly rambles on about… but, a big ol’ heron next to a sailboat should be enough to keep him quiet for a...

Ghosthack :: Langley, BC :: Nightscape :: Day 164

For a change, I stayed out late and waited for it to get dark. It’s fun playing with longer exposures, there is a certain magic that I don’t find during the day. I imagine it’s akin to working in a darkroom and finally seeing that first print appear before your eyes. Time for bed.

Light Painting – First Attempt :: Nightscape :: Day 147

light painting of the number 147

Tonight I watched this commercial and felt inspired to try something new. I had never attempted light painting prior to an hour or so ago and I have to admit that it was really fun, even if the result was totally ridiculous. As I continue along with this Project 365, the most valuable lesson I...
